About us
Our bees, our pride

Over three decades ago, we began beekeeping as a hobby. Today, we can say that beekeeping is our way of life. Away from the noise of the city, industry, traffic, and intensive farming, we keep bees in pristine nature with several hundred bee colonies. Our apiaries are located at various sites between 400 and 650 meters above sea level around Laško. We have been breeding queen bees for 20 years, and for the last 13 years, we have been actively selling them on international markets. Our breeding approach is based on mimicking the natural reproduction of queen bees. The flowering season at our sites begins as early as April. Our bees are adapted to take advantage of both floral and forest forage.

We have been breeding queen bees for 20 years, the last 13. years, more intensively for the European market and beyond. Our breeding technology is based on mimicking the natural reproduction of queen bees. For this reason, we use larger capacity breeding tanks.

Random mated production queen

We take queen bees from breeder colonies when sealed brood is present in the comb, which eliminates the possibility of selling drone (unmated) queens. During inspection, we also assess the quantity and quality of the brood – and the condition of the young queens.

Queens are available from the beginning of June to the end of August.

They are young queens with controlled ancestry on both the maternal and paternal lines.

Overwintered production queens are descendants of top breeders, which have been approved and certified by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia and have known maternal traits.

Overwintered breeder queens

The overwintered queen bee is a queen from which we took breeding material – daughters for the production of queens in our beekeeping in the past season. We then offered her offspring to customers throughout the EU. The queen has a known line on the maternal side and is approved by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.
